random question but i do value the majority of people's advice on this forum...have my first jury duty summons and have to go in tomorrow @ 10 AM

have also been unemployed for the past 3-4 months and was able to get an interviewed scheduled for wednesday

have never done jury duty before, will this be viewed as a valid excuse and will i be dismissed?

if not, what would be a better excuse?

They are very tough to get out of sometimes, regardless of your excuse.

Not showing up would be your best bet and even though nothing will come of you missing it, you simply 'forgot about it', and call the next day to explain.

I know this may sound like bad advice, but i have HONESTLY forgotten about it in the past.......... TWICE!

And............ Nothing... They just call the next person....

With the interview looming, I don't think you want to take the chance of trying to get out of it, and them declining, then you make it past the first day, and end up missing your interview...

Good call. My wife and daughter have both done this. You just get called later, no big deal.
